Personal Mission Statement

I'm going to change the world.

No. Really. I'm going to make a difference.

I believe that ALL women should have access to quality reproductive healthcare, regardless of age, socioeconomic status, race, mental health, geographic location, or other health issues. Currently, this is not the case. Babies born to persons of color have an infant mortality rate that is more than double that of their white counterparts. That is not okay. I want to make birth an enjoyable experience for everyone. The public has lots of fear surrounding the birthing process and how it can have psychologically damaging effects and I don't think that that needs to be the case. Ideally, I would like to go into research to study cultural practices surrounding birth and how those impact outcomes for both mom and baby. Eventually, I would love to research this on a global scale and bring back that knowledge to the United States' healthcare system. It is my mission to serve the vulnerable populations in the birthing community and strive to make birth a better experience for all involved.
